Telangana: Heavy Rains Continue To Lash Several Parts Of State; River Godavari Flows Above Danger Level
In Telangana, incessant heavy rains continue to lash several parts of the state, leading to flooding in some places. The Krishna and Godavari rivers are on spate due to the heavy rains in the upper riparian areas and river basins. River Godavari is flowing above the First danger level at 46.2 feet high at Bhadrachalam this morning at 4 AM.
About 10 lakh 60 thousand cusecs of flood water flowing downstream. Bhadradri Kothagudem district authorities have asked the people to remain alert. Several families from the low-lying areas have been shifted to relief camps. On River Krishna, the Jurala dam in Gadwal district is also facing flooding due to heavy rains in upstream Karnataka. The officials have opened 17 gates of the Jurala irrigation project and started releasing about one lakh cusecs of flood water downstream. The water level in the dam has reached 317.17 meters, close to its full capacity of 318.516 meters.
The state government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to manage the flooding in the affected areas. Meanwhile, Mallampalli in Mulugu District recorded the highest rainfall of 124 mm while Eturunagaram in the district recorded 121.3 mm till 4 AM this morning. On the other hand, the IMD officials issued an alert of heavy rains in many places for the next 24 hours.
