Nation wide Doctors’ strike intensifies
In response to nation-wide strike call by the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) to protest the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, resident doctors of various public hospitals in Maharashtra had gone on strike (except for emergency duty). Senior medical teachers, lecturers and bonded candidates in these medical colleges are managing the hospitals. Leaves of various staff have been cancelled.
Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) yesterday informed that the decision to join the strike has been taken in order to express solidarity with the residents of RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata.
In Jharkhand, junior doctors of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi went on indefinite strike. The demands of agitating doctors include CBI probe into the case and safety of doctors at workplace.
