India Aims To Screen 7 Crore Individuals For Sickle Cell Disease By 2025-26



To eliminate Sickle Cell Disease in the country, the government has set a target to screen 7 crore people in the age group of 0-40 years by the next year. This was stated by the Minister of State Health & Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today. He said the targeted screening of the 7 crore people would be carried out till 2025-26 in the affected 278 districts of tribal areas and counselling through collaborative efforts of central ministries and state governments.
